Digital Assistants' instructions for grading Discussion Board Forums in REL 2011 and REL 3308

Digital Assistants' New directions for grading online discussion forums in your assigned course- updated Fall 2014

1. Reply to the students' posts inside the discussion topic forum during the week that the particular discussion is open. The students cannot see the discussion board after the due date. So, your replies need to be posted before the week is up. Most students wait until the last minute on Sunday night to post, if that is the trend in your course, then save the majority of your comments for private feedback AFTER the discussion board assignment closes. 

2. Once the discussion week closes, use the GRADE DISCUSSION FORUM button as shown in the screenshots below, to leave LEARNER FEEDBACK and assign a general score. 

Important points

Please assign ONE numeric score to the student's overall participationdiscussion posts based on the criteria specified in your course's syllabus
Please only assign a numeric score AFTER discussion board assignment has closed, in order to ensure that students are being graded on the total number of posts the had planned to complete.

With this revision in instructions, DAs will now be responsible for assigning numeric scores to discussion board assignments.
